CINTHIA JOYCE

Cinthia Joyce majored in art history at the University of California at Los Angeles. The sculptors Bernini, Carpeaux and Canova have influenced her figurative work with their romantic subject matter and flowing baroque movement. Rodin has influenced her in his abbreviated style and textural approach, and the play of light and shadows over his forms. Antoine Bayre has influenced her by his animal sculptures with their convoluted shapes and intertwining compositions.

Traveling to places like Santa Fe, New Mexico, the Caribbean, and Europe have also influenced her artwork. She loves the culture and countryside of France, as well as speaks the language. Her dream is to stay in a French farmhouse or chateau every year to accumulate visual material and experiences to inspire her work.
