The Artist Bio on Kathie Odom is not very orthodox. Although she graduated from The University of Tennessee in Art Education/Fine Arts and received attention for early works in pastels, Kathie has spent almost 30 years away from the flow of creative expression on canvas. Her energies have been spent in the world of caretaking. Caring for the young (her children), the wild (her husband), and the dying (her parents). Years of living that deserve 1000 pages... a long period of giving and preparation that has led to this new season.

Her art reflects her life. Kathie leaves the anatomy of her work exposed. Light diffuses translucently from the first wash to the thicker oils, showing different textures, creating interest in her landscapes. Subtle detailing and brush strokes enliven and invite the viewer beneath to an aliveness not so apparent on the surface.
